I finally got ahold of the head of the Hospital in question (post titled cut and run for those of you just joining). Not only did they admit it was their patient, but volunteered to launch an investigation into what happened. I asked for a meeting to review general discharge protocols; as well as allow for an opportunity to set a standard for what level of care we can offer, and what level of care YOU WILL NEVER EVER DISCHARGE TO US IN A CAB.
I threw in the media part, which brought much ass kissing all around. Nice to be on the other side, just for once.
Oh, and more importantly - the weather is heating up. And the coroner has reported no freeze related homeless deaths in the past seven days. Not a single one.

Good for you! That is exactly what it took to get their attention. I was ready to call a friend of mine up here who is a TV reporter. I just might give her a call yet, to make sure nothing similar is happening here.

Did you know that it went down to -25 C with a minus 40 windchill here the other night? It's hard to imagine the lives of the homeless. It really is.
Good for you. Good for not just turning this into something to complain about, but a way to make a difference.

First time I've read your blog -- you go girl! The "Money" thing in health care is the priority at this point. Old homeless people, people with medicaid, the uninsured...are irrelevant. I work with mentally ill. They're not important either. Cherry picking...that's what I see.
